This constantly is frustrating.  Outlook defaults to delete the entire series
of a scheduled event (when point, click and deleting or even opening the
event window).  It should default to delete ONLY the current event.

If a regularly weekly meeting is cancelled you should be able to point,
click and delete with in the calendar and have it just delete that week's
meeting.  Right now Outlook deletes the entire series -- even the one's in
the past -- that's CRAZY!!!

Please fix this and include in your next downloadable patch.  I am a
Microsoft fan.  You guys do a great job (except for this issue and MS Money's
budget).  Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas.

Rather than all that, create ONE EVENT, then once done copy it for each week
(copy and paste, or right click, drag a drop...), that way you can delete
one item and have no problems...

Am I missing something?

I use repeating events all the time. When I select one instance of a
repeating event and request that it be deleted, I get a message box that
asks "Do you want to delete all occurrences of the recurring appointment
"Name of the appointment", or just this one". The message box has two
buttons:
"Delete this occurrence." which is selected by default, and
"Delete the series."

In other words, on every instance of Outlook that I have used, Outlook
DEFAULTS to deleting just the one occurrence -- it takes extra effort to
delete the entire series.

I haven't been able to find any way to change this behavior. Apparently you
have. While I understand how frustrating it can be if Outlook doesn't offer
you the choice to delete a single occurrence, I think you would be better
served by trying to determine why your copy of Outlook is behaving
abnormally than by ranting about a design failure that doesn't exist.

Yes you are missing something. What you're suggesting that is happening is
TRULY correct! BUT, sometimes in life we have to try and find a work around
till the issue is resolve, thus my previous email. If this is not suitable
to you, then am sorry that I wasted your time, and mine, for that matter...

Ps: I don't work for Microsoft, I was just trying to help you...

Ivan,

I believe you missed the point of Michael S. Meyer-Jouan's post. There are
two different "Michaels" here: the original poster "Michael" and then
someone else, "Michael S. Meyers-Jouan", who responded to the original
poster and not to you. Look at the positioning of the posts. Michael S.
Meyers-Jouan's post was under the original post, not yours. He was not
putting down your response...he was pointing out to "Michael" that the
default behavior is to highlight the current occurrence.

Don't feel bad...I've done the same thing and gotten lost in the positioning
of the threads.

Not a problem! I am glad I could help clear up that misunderstanding.

See you around!
