how do I count the number of contacts I have in a given view?

how do I count the number of contacts I have in a given view of the contact
list?  Also, I am trying to put the contacts on mailing lables for a mailing.
I have purchase an Avery mailing lable product (#8660) and just need to get
the contacts in a format to print them on the lables.

The Status bar displays that information.

The status bar shows the number of Contacts in a Folder.
Outlook uses Word for performing mail merge functions such as Form Letters,
mailing labels, envelopes, and fax or email merges. For an overview of these
