Imported contacts, emails not working

I imported several hundred contacts from a .csv file, all information is
correct and in the correct spot. But when I click on "new message to contact"
I get an error. I'm trying to turn this folder into a distribution list, but
when I select one of the names on the left and hit add member to the right
side all I get is a period (.) or a semi-colon (;) with no additional
information.

Is there a fix or a work-around? I really don't want to spend hours cutting
a pasting to create all new contact files.

You posted the same question twice.
Just be patient.
