Outlook 2003.

Started NEW ident.  Had a blank Outlook.  Was able to 'import' some
valid .pst files and a contact list from a .csv.
Worked fine.  Have 600 contacts!  But when I click on address book,
it says contacts were either deleted or I don't have 'permission'.  (I
am only one using this program)

Have tried to see if I could import WAB file.  Could find no way, it
wanted to import into contacts, so now my Contacts is full of
duplicates!

Checked out the links 'help' suggested.  No help.

Have a large pst file I moved into 'new ident' but guess it doesn't
have contacts listed...  Or it didn't like being moved (Still have it
in orig. spot, but at this point, don't know what to do w/it!)

HOW do I get all these contacts to show in address book?
spondee@cox.net - 28 Nov 2004 04:52 GMT
Somehow, by following advice on a help url, I have my .pst in the
correct place for my new ident.

AND I now show everything in Outlook 2003 EXCEPT CONTACTS & Address
book!

If I try to 'open' the pst file again, won't I get all these things in
duplicate???

So how can I 'import' a csv file to outlook contacts, AND a wab file
to address book???

Thanks!

If you had Contacts in a PST file before and don't now, you have not yet
found the correct PST file. Why do you think you need to import from a CSV
or a WAB? Just find the correct PST file and configure Outlook to use it.

WORKED!!!  Thanks!

But now I have 1folder called ADDRESS BOOK (EMPTY) and 2 folder IN
ADDRESS BOOK all named CONTACT.  Found out w/help files how to delete
2 of 'em, but how to know which one I want to keep???  Don't seem to
be able to rename or note CONTACT folder that contains all my data.

The Address Book should appear empty. It simply holds the Contact Folder you
have designated as email address books. You can remove any invalid
references to Contact Folders here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change.

Yep, Found this.  But how do I know which is the 'valid' folder and
which are the 'invalid'.  They all are listed as 'CONTACT'.

I've renamed the 'data' CONTACT folder to CONTACT1.  And so it shows
in the address book and folder panel. But not in he Outlook Address
Book/change; there are 3 folders listed, all 'CONTACTS'.
I do not want to accidently delete my data containing CONTACT folder.
Been though too much getting it back!!!

You can't tell. Don't sweat it. If you remove the wrong one you can
always add it back and remove the other.

K.  I'll export CONTACTS to a csv file, then will be easy to import!

Thanks so much for the help...
(Been trying to get 'Outlook for Dummies' from my library, but it's
reserved for months to come!)

Why would you do that? All we're dealing with here is an invalid reference
to your Contacts Folder in the Outlook Address Book. The Contacts Folder
itself is not the problem. Changing file formats is a good way to lose data.
