I installed a new main hard drive in my machine. Installed XP Pro,
installed my Office XP and copied over most of my data from the old
hard drive.
When I copie my Outlook XP files from the two locations in the
"Documents and Settings" to the same two locations on the new drive my
archived mail and contacts do not show up.
Am I doing something wrong?
Can I recover at least my contacts? I really don't want to have to
retype all 300 into Outlook.

Indeed you are doing something wrong. You must never overwrite PST files.
You will corrupt your Outlook profile. Instead, Outlook must be configured
to use your previous data. The Help files tell you how. The procedure for
Outlook 2002 is the same as for Outlook 2003:
