Contacts listing in Outlook

We have just changed servers and a facility in Outlook that was available now
not.

When your in Outlook in contacts and have the simple setting 'phone list' -
we could be anywhere on that list and type say "W" and the list would go to
the start of the W's.  How do we switch that back on?

Turn off in-cell editing in the properites of the view.
