For earlier versions of Outlook, there was a Knowledge Base VB routine that
sorted the addressbook in eithr First or Last name order.  Is there something
similar for Office XP ?

The VB routine was to reset the File As field for all existing Contacts. Is
that what you mean?
Because the method to set the sort order for the Address Book never required
one and hasn't changed:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change. >
Signature
