Outlook does that by default when you have set your dialing location
correctly.

Sorry for the wording here. I want just the opposite. I want to eliminate
the ( ) around the area code and display it like this xxx-xxx-xxxx

Answer is the same. The behavior is hard coded. It cannot be changed by the
end user.
