I am using Outlook 03 and I intend to use my bluetooth earphone to talk to
people I dial from the contact list.

Not an Outlook issue.
The Windows Phone dialer does not support voice modems.

It might be possible Russ.
I note a check box in the dialer on my machine enabling it to handle voice
call requests from programs.
Running ME and old MSPhone with a modem card sold as fax/data but its chip
is voice capable.  So running it with the fried modem cards drivers package
it allows use of a handset connected to it after dialing from outlook. And
also MSPhone works with this modem where as it was problematic with the
previous card.
I would guess the first requirement would have to do with the capabilities
of the modem chip set and then whether you can get the audio drivers that
are needed for his hardware to work with it.

The Windows dialer does not support voice modems. It simply places the
call and hands off to any device that is plugged into the outbound port
of the modem. A handset plugged into that port will work.

Russ, that makes sense.  And if the modem came with its own dialer package,
might he be able to get it to work with Outlook?  Or if the dialer hands off
to the modem card and it has SP capabilities then he should be able to talk
after dialing from his contact??  The next trick would be getting his
earphone drivers to work with the modem and its audio drivers.

I realize this is all very "maybe".
I apologize for misinterpreting your answer.  You're correct in that it
isn't an Outlook issue because if Outlook does the handoff it has pretty
much completed its job.  I wouldn't have known where to send him either
because all to often tech support for equipment isn't up to par and
comparing their pay to yours (;- they are infinitely overpaid.  Just had
multiple experiences of that and the only answer is to throw in the towel or
use much patience with a lot of perseverance.  Almost a month wasted but I
seem to be back up.

And to the questioner if you are following along still.  Check your modem
capabilities first and maybe their support.  Try a hook up with a phone
first as I mentioned earlier.  If that works, maybe then you can get the
drivers for your Bluetooth audio device to work with the modem.  Good luck.
You are probably traveling in uncharted waters and could run into conflicts.
