How do I change the default area code?

When I create a new contact in Outlook 2003, it automatically inserts a
telephone area code before the seven digit number that I enter.  How can I
change the default area code that Outlook uses?  I will appreciate advice.

Click on actions on menu
At bottom call contact
New call
dialing Properties
Dialing Rules
Edit
go to Country region add area code
now you are done.
