This sounds like when you created the contact, you added the email address
by clicking the address book button next to the Email field and choosing
someone from the address book. You may need to type in the address to fix
this.
What address lists do you have in your address book?

No, I entered each email address separately either cutting and pasting from
my notes or typing it in. This field used to respond (meaning, once the email
is entered, the field displays the name of the contact but if I click on it,
it will display the spelled out address in a different window.).
I have noticed that some entries never display the name of the contact, when
the more recent ones tend to do that, but these never refused to display the
address.
This also seem to happen only for contacts that got duplicated, either
during a sync or an import, I use a desktop and a laptop, but tend to import
and export files rather than using the PocketPC to transfer my info before a
trip.
Once the file is synchronized with my pocket PC however, I still have the
email addresses in PocketPC. But not in Outlook. Moreover, if I try to send
email in Outlook, it does not seem to find the address either.
Now all the "unique " contacts display the email address in the email field
, and no longer the name (which seemed to use to be the rule).
