Can someone please help. I've be trying without success to move my PST files
from one PC to another but without success. I've managed to save and get the
"INBOX" onto the new PC but I am unable to get the Sent Items, or the Address
Book over to the new PC.
I've copies the PST file to a CD when I try to copy it's contents to the new
PC I am asked for a password.  I haven't the slightest idea what password
Microsoft Outlook is looking for. I've tried everything and every password I
have ever had - still can't move my PST files to the New PC.
I would appreciate any help from anyone. Have gone through the Microsoft
help and despite hours of reading  I still have a new PC without a single
email on it and no idea what I should do next............apart from go mad.
Many thanks in anticipation for help that will help me over this problem.

Both PC are running XP  - one XP Pro and the other XP Home Edition. The  Host
PC is the one I am trying to get the PST files off but it seems that no
matter what I do, I can't  move all the files.  As stated in a previous
posting I can get the INBOX content across but that's all. Address book, Sent
items etc are all missing despite having use Microsoft's own tool for backing
up PST files.   On doing a search of  my PC I found about 10 PST files, some
very small and one  89MB in size, this is the one I want to capture and put
on the new PC.  I copied it to a CD, went to the new PC tried to copy the
files but was asked for a password.  I've tried all the passwords I've ever
used for email, for example, but nothing works.
Can anyone tell me why it is that the "INBOX" contents are being copied and
no other parts of Microsoft Outlook are "coming " with the file.
Very best wishes,
Pwheelie.

pweelie:

Use export in the "import/export" function under the "File" menu and export
your Personal Folder to a file "xxx.pst" on old computer.  Then copy that
file to your new computer and use the import function in "import/export" and
import that file into your personal folder on new computer.  Make sure you
are in your "personal folders" on new computer when importing

Ignore any advice to import and export PST files. It is not the correct way
to transfer Outlook data.

"Imported" to the new PC?  How did you do that?  Russ was saying that you
shouldn't use Outlook's export or import functions.

Now that you have the PST on the new machine, start Outlook and click
File>Open>Outlook Data File.
