Tip: Looking for answers? Try searching our database.

The contact search should include the 'nickname' field (at least)

There are too few fields looked at by the contacts search feature (especially
when addressing an email).  Older versions of Outlook searched the 'nickname'
field which allowed for more flexibility on how you could locate contacts
while keeping your contact list and your emails as formal as needed.

No version of the Outlook Address Book has ever had this feature.

I respectfully disagree.  Outlook 2000 does do as I describe.

Not the full version. Only in IMO mode, which does not use the Outlook
Address Book.

The fact that it works in IMO mode but not if I'm using exchange server (or
whatever the difference is) is even more ridiculous.  But at least I know
have some idea of why I am having to retrain myself at addressing emails.

Do you know how I can eliminate that duplicate post?

Thanks Russ.

Current versions of Outlook have an autocompletion feature that obviates the
need for searching the nickname field.
Don't know what you mean by duplicate post.
