Contacts properties problem

Guys,

Here is the problem. One of our users wants to be able to access his
contacts when he presses the To button. For all our other users this is not a
problem. They click To then change the Show names from the: to Contacts,
sorted. This is a feature of the Contacts properties. If you right click the
Contacts icon on the left and select properties, go to Outlook Address Book
tab and make sure the Show this folder as an e-mail adderss book is ticked.
This works fine on all other users but this one user that option is greyed
out, we cannot tick it so that his Contacts are available through the address
book.

Any ideas why? How we can solve this...

Sounds like that user needs to add the Outlook Address Book to the profile.
Use Tools  | Email Accounts.

The prompts shouldn't be that hard to follow if you read the screens and use
a little common sense and experimentation, but If you need them spelled out
...

1) Click Tools

2) Click E-mail Accounts

3) Select "Add a new directory or address book." Click Next.

5) Choose Additional Address Books. Click Next.

6) Choose Outlook Address book. Click Next.

7) Click Finish.

8) Restart Outlook.

PJ,

There is one thing that Sue has left out.

In our case the user could not select the option as originally stated due to
it being greyed out. They could not do as Sue suggested as they did not have
sufficient rights to do so. You don't want a normal user being able to add
all their personal e-mail accounts to their work machine do you?

So what we had to do was relax the permissions slightly so that they were
allowed, I then went round the users that were suffering and set it up using
the instructions from Sue. Once done we then changed the permissions back and
Bob's your uncle.

Regards,
Ash.
