Customer uses public folder for company contacts. Accesses this via
favorites in outlook 2003.
If a new contact is added, it doesn't update public folder, and no one else
knows the contact was added..

More details please:

1) Exchange connectivity - Cached Exchange mode, classic online, or classic
offline?

2) User working online or offline?

Hi Sue.. Big fan of yours, btw..
Outlook 2003 in classic online mode, user online.

The public folder was added to favorites, and the user accesses it via the
new outlook 2003 navigation pane Contacts,
where it's listed under Other Contacts as Office Contacts.
Everything seems fine here, it's a second user who seems to have the
problem. The second user is cached mode, online. Contacts added by users 1
don't appear to user 2. Both users have owner permissions.

Do public folders update periodically while online, immediately, scheduled,
or on logoff / logon?
The second system is a laptop that is very infrequently logged off and taken
anywhere.
While writing this, it occurs to me that this may be the source of the
problem..

If the user is working online, mailbox and PF favorites automatically sync
in the background. The only way I have been able to produce the scenario you
describe is if User 1 is working offline and using Send/Receive to sync.
Note that "working online/offline" is not the same as being
connected/disconnected from the network. It is possible to be connected to
the network but working offline.
