When selecting Contacts from the shortcut bar, the
default view comes up without "cursor focus" in a contact
field (Address card view).  With previous versions of
Outlook, I am used to selecting Contacts and then typing
a few letters of the last name to bring up the
appropriate address card.  With Outlook 2002, I have to
do the added step of clicking on one of the visible
address cards to manually set the focus and then type the
letters of the last name.
Any thoughts?

Not really, but I've seen a lot of other users post the same finding. It
doesn't happen here. What happens if you ditch the Outlook Bar and use
Folder view instead to select the Contacts Folder?
