I have a new laptop that I want to put my Outlook 2000 Contacts (addresses,
phone, email) on. What are the steps I need to do to copy them from my
desktop to my laptop??

I've looked through the list and I thought I had it figured out but then got
confused with some other posts.

Thanks

Bob

The easiest and safest way to transfer data is simply to make a copy of your
Outlook Data File. You can then either use it as your default data file in
the other installation or simply open it in the other installation and copy
what you want from it.

The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:

I copied all my contacts to a disk and installed the disk into my new
computer and dragged them to the contact heading.  That is all it took.

Not with Outlook. You cannot drag and drop Outlook Data Files without
corrupting your profile. You must first open them in Outlook.
