distribution lists do not work

When I upgraded to 2003 and moved my contact lists, my distribution lists do
not work.  I get a message "An unexpected error has occurred."  I tried
deleting the distribution lists and creating them again, but I get the same
error.  Any suggestions?

How did you move your Contacts?
DL's would never survive an import, for example.
