Duplicate Contacts

I am running outlook 2000.
When I have a duplicate contact it asks me if I want
to "Update new information from this contact to the
existing one" and I say yes.  But when I go and look at it
in my contacts it has the old email address along with the
new email address listed.  I want it to over write the old
email address with the new one.  Instead it puts the old
email address as Email1 and the new email adress as
Email2.  I just want the updated email address to show
up.  All the other info is correctly updated just not the
email.

Thanks,

Behaving as designed, thankfully. I would not want Outlook assuming I wanted
to delete existing information. It's safer this way. If you want to delete
existing information, you must do so intentionally.
