There is no address book in Outlook. The file you need to back up is your
Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail, calendar, contacts
etc are stored.
Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:

Okay, thanks for this information, because this is
exactly what I am looking for. However, the pages that
you listed did not help me in locating the files that i
need to back up. I did not write the original message,
and i have a further challenge. Allow me to explain. I
have a system where windows xp will not run. locks up and
reboots immediately. I want to reinstall win xp on it and
get the address book/mail, and then clean install.
windows xp is not working at all and i cannot "back up"
to win 98 unless I reformat.
so i went put that hard disk in my system and tried to
run outlook. It only pulls up my listing and my mail,
etc. I cannot access this other system email
accounts/contacts/mail. I searched for the
files .pst .ost and .pab files - none found on the
system. Is there anywhere else I should look? thanks in
advance..
