When I open up a new blank e-mail, and enter "JOHN" in
the to blank (or any name in my book, for that matter) it
is not recognizing it. Then, when I click on the TO:
Field to open my address book, I get an error saying "The
contacts list associated with this address book could not
be opened; it may have been moved or deleted.

You have to be specific about what version of outlook or
outlook express you're using. Is it connected to an
exchange server or are you using it to get you mail from
you isp?

Not much we can tell you until you tell us your Outlook version and how you
set up your Contacts and Outlook Address Book.
