Click the email column heading in the contacts display list and it will sort
by email. (Just like any other column heading you click, address, company,
last name, etc, etc,)

Judy, Many thanks.
I should havre said in my query that I tried this but it did not sort. The
order remained static.

Post your version so others might be able to assist you also.
That is strange that it remains static when you click the column heading.
Do any of the other columns allow you to sort by clicking on them?
You can also try: View/Arrange by/Custom/sort/choose 'email'. Do all of
this from the 'phone list' view.
