How do I set a display name for a distribution list contact?

I'm using Outlook 2000 - I have a distribution list in my Contacts and do not
want all the individual email addresses to be displayed when I send an email
to this distribution list. How do I set a "display name" as I can using the
"dispay as" function available when creating a new individual contact?

The display name setting has nothing to do with it. The DL will still be
expanded in the To: field no matter how you name it.
If you want to try to place the name of your Distribution List in the To:
