Look again.
That messages tells you there is not a valid email address in that Contact
Record.
I bet it's right. Your Contact record is probably corrupt.

Sorry to disappoint you but there is definitely an email address within each
of the contacts, I wouldn't need to post a question on this website if there
wasn't!!!
The email addresses are picked up, as e-mail addresses when selecting the
contact from the address book but not when highlighting and selecting the
option "send message to contact". The user has other contact folders where
she is able to use this option.
If all of the contacts within the folder are corrupt how can this be fixed
without having to recreate each contact.

I've seen no similar reports. Imported Contacts often have corrupt
addresses.
What information store are you using? Have you tried to repair it?

I am having the same problem as Foss, how would you repair the corrupted
addresses.

Post the steps used to create these email address entries and how you have
verified that they are corrupt.
