no contact/address info after upgrade from office 97 to 2003

After upgrading to outlook 2003 from outlook 97 using a cd rom disk which was
inserted into a cd rom drive, then following the directions provided by MS
during the upgrade process, the previously available contact and calendar
information is no longer available.
  I would have thought that the upgrade process would automatically copy
the user data to the new version of the software but this does not seem to
have happened.

Any help in restoring my data would be greatly appreciated.

An upgrade that skips that many versions will not.
Just reset Outlook to use your old data file:
