I have Outlook 2003, through the student Office 2003 product. For some
reason, for some of the poeple in my address book, Outlook persists in using
old defunct email addresses when I write to them. I have updated the address
book correctly.
Would someone out there know where Outlook is storing these old addresses so
that I can delete them?
thanks!
are they showing up in autocorrect? If so, either delete the *.NK2 file or
use the arrow keys to select the bad addresses when they come up and hit
Del.

I type their name in the address field and the old address shows up. I can't
delete it. I can check its properties, but it doesn't tell me where it is.
what's a *.NK2 file and where would I find it?
thank you for your help.

Hardly... this is an Outlook forum and the question was about Outlook, not
Outlook Express...

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. If your autocomplete list contains only a single entry, use the
directions here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;289975
To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:

THANK YOU! I now understand have solved the problem. Outlook had a
"Nicknames" file and was keeping old data in it. I almost deleted the whole
file, but I've benefited from those records on occasion. (I thought it was
finding addresses in old emails.) Whatever! I deleted the two that keep
messing me up. Thanks for your help!!!
