How do I sort the Contacts list as LAST NAME and FIRST NAME, rather than
first and last?

In which view?
In which version of Outlook?

Version: MS Outlook 2003 SP1

View: I click new message, and "To:" and I have the Contacts list come up
first to pick from.  The names are ordered as First Last.  I want them
ordered as Last First so it is easier to find a person I want to e-mail.

That's the Address Book view.
Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there

Thank you! That was the exact fix.  The only thing I had to do after that was
close and reopen Outlook for the changes to take effect.

Thanks Russ but this did not work for me.  I followed the instructions below,
made the change and then exited from Outlook & rebooted my laptp.  Still all
names are listed as "first, last"

I have just today transferred all these contacts from an old laptop with
EXPro to a new Satellite with Vista Ultimate and Outlook 2007.

Help!
