i have to reinstall windows after a crash. is there any way that i can recover my contacts if i install the new copy of windows over the currupted version? Did you reformat the hard drive? If not, then this is not a new version of Windows. Just search for any Outlook data files (*.pst) and open then in Outlook to see if any contain your old data. Note, these are hidden files on Windows XP.
