file attachments for outlook 2000

Whenever I send an attached file to AOL users, the file is being converted to
a "windat" file and isn't readable.  How do I get the file to  stay as it is
sent?  ie:  excel, word or adobe??

Make sure your message format is plain text or HTML, not rich text.
