I exported over 13,000 contacts into excel from Outlook 2002 so that I could
clean out my database (remove duplicates ect.) and when I imported them back
into Outlook 2002 they were all "filed as" Last name, First name.

When I exported them, they were all   filed as:  Company, (Last, First).

They have to be filed that way again. I have about 10,000 contacts now and
there is no way I can sit here and click on each contact to change it back.
Is there a way I can change all of them at once???

I have been trying to figure this out for about 3 days and am hoping someone
on here has an answer.

Thank you in advance.

Your File As field setting will not apply to imported Contacts. Exporting
and importing is rarely a good solution for anything.
To change the File As field setting for existing Contacts will require
running code.

Thanks Russ -

I appreciate the help a lot!

I realize now that exporting may have not been the best answer but I figured
it would be easier to clean out my database in outlook.

Thanks again!
