address has been deleted still appears auto complete

a contact chaged employers I deleted the contact and created a new one. Now
when I enter the first name the deleted name appears in the address. If I
click on properties the original (deleted) name cannot be found. If I click
on type a contact to find the new contact appears
How can I permently delete the original contact

Remember, we aren't watching you and it is not at all clear what you are
doing or where.
Include your Outlook version.

Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. If your autocomplete list contains only a single entry, use the
directions here:
