Is there a way that I can not show everything in the journal when I click the
activities tab of a contact?  I see each email twice, once in sent/rec'd and
also in journal.  This takes so much longer each time I click the activities
tab.

Edit the activities group on the Properties dialog of the Contacts folder.

Thanks for the quick response.  Journal appears to be a permanent part of
that.  When I try to modify and remove the check, the ok button dims.  I see
no way to remove journal from the list.

Then create a new activities group containing only the folders you're
interested in and make that the default.
