Contacts from outside providers/clients of the organization

Hello:

We will create an Exchange 2003 corporate installation with 5000 users with
Outlook 2003 distributed geographically. We are migrating from Lotus Notes.

Users actually have some shared address lists that they manage with contacts
from users that do not belong to the organisation (providers, clients ...).
We want to create something similar in Exchange but we don't know what
options do we have for doing this.

We wouldn't like to include those contacts on our Active Directory. We want
to avoid having a large size of data replicating across all the offices of
our organization.

We would like to create different address lists with those external contacts
independently of our internal active directory, and users across the
organization should be able to include and edit those external contacts.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

An Exchange public folder to hold contact items would be a good solution.
File | New | Folder.
