Provide information more clearly. Include your Outlook version, how you
created the Contacts and what you mean by "Contact List"

Dear russ,
I have Outlook 2003 with service pack 1.
I open Outlook contacts, click on new, type in the contact details then when
finished click save and close.
I have 5 lists i.e. suppliers, personal, etc and I did a list (Categories)
for customers.
All the other lists are still there except my customer list.
The customer list was there for several days but no appears to have gone and
I haven't delete, well not on purpose anyway.
I have used search with the name Customer and tried a customer name I know
was on the list but search comes up with nothing.

You did not define what you mean by "lists." That term could mean anything.
Where and how are you looking for these Contacts? In what folder are you
creating them?
How many Outlook Data files and Contact folders do you have in this profile?
If you don't know, be sure you use the Folder List view to examine your
entire folder hierarchy.
