I have recently transferred to my new computer. All outlook files and
settings are working well, except when I try and acces the contacts list from
a new email. I click on "To" or "CC' and the meassage "The address list could
not be displayed. The Contacts list associated with the address list could
not be opened it may have been removed or deleted......"
The contacts list is accessable through Contacts and this function worked
previously on my old computer with the same setup.

You may want to check and make sure that the Contacts folder is setup to
show as an Outlook Address Book. To do this right click on the Contacts
folder in the folder list and select Properties. Then select the Outlook
Address Book tab and check the box to "Show this folder as an e-mail
address book". Now test and see if it works.

I hope this information is helpful.

I did the same without success.  I fixed by doing the following:
1- Start Outlook
2- Open Tools tab
3- click View or change existing directories or address books, and click next
4- Click Outlook Address Book, and then Remove
5- Click Yes to confirm
6- Click Add
7- Click Additional Address Books
8- Click Outlook Address Book, and then Next
9- Click OK after receiving message to restart Outlook
10- Click Finish
11 - Exit Outlook
12- Restart Outlook
13- Right Click Outlook contacts folder, and Properties
14- Click Outlook Address Book Tab
15 - Click to select Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book (should
already be selected)

Check to see if that worked

I had to do the following before getting to step 3:
click TOOLS menu , OPTIONS, MAIL SETUP tab, select "EMAIL ACCOUNTS" button
& on lower 1/2 of screen under DIRECTORIES sub-section [pane]:
