How can I use Outlook 2003 contact list to fax a document?

WinXP SP2 w/Office Pro 2003 on desktop and MS Exchange Server 2003;  Each
user mailbox & contacts list are on the server ALONG with a public folder
containing the firms contacts.

I understand that it is NOT possible to use Outlook's 2003 Contacts list to
'Print to Fax' from within Word 2003.  The workaround is to export the
contact data from Outlook 2003 and then import it into the Windows WAB.  I
successfully exported the data and when opening Start, Accessories, Address
Book... the data is there.  However, when I attempt to 'print to fax' from
within Word 2003, the Send Fax Wizard opens, I click on the Address Book
button,  and the following drop down menu appears:

Outlook Address Book
    Contacts
Global Address List
All Address Lists
    All Contacts
    All Groups
    All Users
    Public Folders

I've looked under all of these, but there is no data.  BUT if I go to Start,
Accessories, Address Book, I can see the data that I imported from the
Outlook exported file.

Any clues?  Thank you in advance,
Regards,

Micheline

Why do you say that?
Assuming you are talking about Windows XP Fax, it will use the Outlook
Address Book by default whenever Outlook is installed. There is never any
need to export to the WAB.

Outlook comes with Microsoft Office.  Outlook Express is a program that comes
with Microsoft Windwos.  Outlook Express uses the Windows Address Book for
its list of contacts, so any contact listed in Outlook Express is available
tot he Send Fax Wizard.  But......  Any contacts listed in Outlook (Office
2003), is NOT available with the Fax Wizard.  The recommendation by everyone
that I can see .... is to export from Outlook (Office) and import to Windows
Address Book.

I've done that.... and CAN see the data in both my Outlook (Office 2003)
contacts AND I can also see the data if I click on Start, Accessories,
Address Book.... but I CAN'T see it using the Fax Wizard.  If I open a Word
2003 doc. and click on print, then fax, the Send Fax Wizard opens, I click on
the Address Book button,  and the following drop down menu appears:

Outlook Address Book
   Contacts
Global Address List
All Address Lists
   All Contacts
   All Groups
   All Users
   Public Folders

It's strange.  Any ideas?

Not correct, and no one has ever given that advice in this group.
I know the difference between OE and Outlook very well. I also know that
whenever you install Outlook and configure the Outlook Address Book Windows
XP Fax will switch to using it and not the WAB. It only uses the WAB if
Outlook is not present.

Everything you see looks correct to me. You simply need to select the
appropriate Contacts Folder in that dropdown to see your recipients.

No, the advice wasn't in this group.  It was something I read in the
Microsoft training website.  I'll have to get the URL when I go to work on
Monday.  Wish I had copied it down.....    I'm glad to hear that I read this
incorrectly.  But I still can't figure out why I can't get this to work.
When I highlight ANY of the drop down options..... it doesn't display the
contacts in my Outlook 2003.  That's when I am in a Word 2003 document and
send the document to print and choose the fax printer, etc.....

Then you simply need to confirm that you enabled the Folder that contains
your Contacts as an email address book in its properties. Read how the
Outlook Address Book should be configured:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;287563&Product=ol2002

The URL you saw would have been referring to Windows 2000 Personal Fax, not
Windows XP Fax.
