Great stufff Russ, Exacty what I was looking for if my laptop OS was
functioning properly. I currently have the hard drive from the laptop set up
in an external enclosure and connected to the PC via USB. I am a rookie here
but I don't think I have access to the registry on the hard drive in it's
current form?
If I reinstall the OS on the laptop do I lose the information currently
stored in Outlook?

Your Outlook data should be intact. The file you need is your Personal
Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are
stored.
