MS Office Forum / Outlook / Contacts / May 2005Split area codes?
Some numbers in several area codes are long distance from me and require a "1"... some in the same area code do not... how can this information be stored in the contact folder? Fundamentally how do I use the automatic dialer in Outlook in this situation? Using Outlook 2002 with Win98SE. Thanks in advance for any help, You don't store it in the Contacts folder. I can not figure out how to set up the dialing rules? If I put the area code into the box indacating a "1" is required... then when I try to dial a number that does not require a 1... it puts one there? So how do I set up the rules so that I can choose which number requires a 1, and which one does not? I have to use trial-and-error determining which number in a particular contact will require a "1" and which one will not. Thats why I was hopeing the information could be stored in the contact folder after the fact. If I go back and put a “1” in the AC box in the modem… it works? It's been a long time since I've seen Win98SE, so I'm sort of flying blind here. The Win98SE dialer doesn't allow you to set up dialing rules with anywhere near as much specificity as does the WinXP dialer.
