I prefer the fields that I am addding to appear on the General card form. The
only place that they appear is in the User Defined fields. Is there a way
around this?

Create a custom contact form with your fields on the General page. Note that this will cost you some built-in functionality. See http://www.outlookcode.com/d/contactform.htm
