I run XP Home edition, and Office XP. I connect to my email through Outlook
(not Outlook Express).

Some weeks ago I got an error message when coming out of standby and was
prompted to run the inbox repair tool. I did, but now I cannot add new
contacts. In addition, I seem to have multiple copies of contacts in the
folder list. When I try I get a message that says "Errors have been detected
in the file C:\Windows\outlook.pst. Quit all email-enabled applications and
run Inbox Repair tool."

Doing that doesn't help. Can anyone coach me through solving/resolving this
issue?

Close Outlook. Reboot. Alternate the Inbox Repair Tool with a scandisk
utility until you receive no more error messages.

Do you back up your data?
