All of my contacts from my old computer were imported into the contacts file
in my new Outlook.  But when I am creating a new message, and click on the
address book icon to the left of the address line, the address book comes up
empty.  How do I get my contacts into my personal address book.?

Make sure you use the Outlook Address Book, not the Personal Address Book.
Configure it correctly:

Thanks Russ

I followed the instruction by going to File, Folder, properties for Contacts
folder, Outlook Address Book, but the program won't let me check the "show
this folder as an email address book" box.  What am I doing wrong?

Most likely you aren't reading the instructions I posted. You must first add
the Outlook Address Book service to your profile before that option will
appear.

I didn't see those instructions -- how do I do that? Went to start menu,
control panel, user accounts, mail, email accounts, etc. and I can't get it
to recoginze any changes.

Please just read the article more carefully. The instructions are clear. You
are not following them. I can't post them more clearly than the article
does.

Finally got it to work by deleting address books from my profile then
re-insatlling them.  Once I did that, I could select contacts for use with my
profile.
