importing contact list to outlook express 6.0

i have a backed up contact list from office 2000 in the *.pst format that i
am trying to open/import in outlook express 6.0.  i have been driving myself
nuts trying to do this without any success.  What should i do?

Please help me before this computer takes a flight out of my window.

Examine the file types that OE can import. PST is not one of them.
You should create a file type that OE can import.
