(Office 2003) I have a sports member database of 1200+ names and want to
create a single dist. list for emailing everyone.  In the past, I seemed to
have problems with a dist. list of 30+ names, so now I have about 50
different dist. lists of no more than 25 names each.  Is there a maximum # of
addresses allowed in a single dist. list?  Thanks!

That limit is set by the mail server, not Outlook.
Large DL's are a bad idea. They rarely work and are impossible to maintain.
Look for other ways to group your Contacts, like separate subfolders or
Categories.

So I need to contact Comcast to verify their limit?

I currently have dist. lists named A1, A2, A3, B1, C1, C2, etc.  These are
based on first initials, but I have about 60 different ones.  Each of these
contain no more than 25 names.  When sending out the quarterly league
announcements, I have to copy-paste the text into 60 emails - just takes
about half-hour or so.  I'm just looking for a major shortcut - ie, a single
distribution list.

Thanks for the response, though!

Yes. Only Comcast can tell you how many email addresses they'll let through
at once. That is not an Outlook limit.

Russ - thanks for the clarification.  I wonder if it also might involve our
web hosting company (www.powweb.com) for the league website...

Thanks again!

Not sure how a web hosting company would affect SMTP, are you?

mail merge using a dynamic dl
(http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/20030730.htm)? if the list is only
used for this mailing, you could create a separate contacts folder and begin
the merge in outlook

see http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/mailmerge.htm for mail merge help.
