I don't know if this has been fixed in later versions, but in Outlook 2000
when looking up an email address, what the address book displays is the name
of the contact followed by (email / email 2 / email 3) depending on how many
email addresses have been set up for the contact.
This is of no use when you want to know which address is which (i.e. home,
work etc.). It also ignores whatever is put in 'Display Name' in the
properties for the email address when creating or editing the contact details.

Are we to assume you are referring to the Address Book view?
If so, just resize it or use a different view to select your Contacts.
