How do I update dist. list automatically when saving contact

I have a manager who would like his distribution list to automatically add a
contact saved to a particular category. Put another way, when he designates a
category for a contact, he would like them to be automatically added to a
distribution list for that same category.

Can't be done.
DL's don't even update manually reliably.
I don't understand why you even need a DL if you're already using
Categories.
