I have a contacts folder located in the Public folder of Outlook and I would
like to add this to everyones address book e.g. when looking for an address
it automatically defaults to the address book in public folders and not
'contacts' on the local machine. It seems to work on one or 2 machines but
not all.

Curious, if you are using Public folder then you are on Exchange so my
question is if you want everyone to default to an address book for the
company then why not just use the GAL.  As for the Public Contacts not
working please provide more detail what is happening e.g. errors etc.

Regards

Hi Francine

Sorry - what is GAL? (I'm not an outlook expert and have inherited control
of the Infrastructure because I know where the 'on' button is on a PC)

In terms of errors, when I try to add the address book to the list to the
users Addressing Setting e.g. Address book/ tools/options/ add/  sometimes
all I can see is the top level 'Public folder' whereas on 1 or 2 machines I
see public folders/company address book and can add this as the default
folder.

It is not an error as such just an inability to see the folder.

Thanks
Andrew

By GAL, he means Global Address Book.

Try to right click on the public contacts folder and select properties.
Click on the Outlook Address Book Tab and check the box for show this folder
as an Outlook Address Book.
