Outlook 2003/SP1 Local Distribution Lists shows email address

I created a Distribution List which is stored in my Contacts folder. After I
upgraded to Outlook 2003/SP1 (from Outlook XP) the DL function changed. I
create a message and select my DL and then send the message. When I go look
at the message in the Sent Folders it has all the members of the DL displayed
- only shows DL name when creating the message. The REAL BAD thing is all
recipients see ALL the email addresses. The global DLs still function as
normal hiding all the email addresses.  Anybody else have this?
Thanks for any help......

I see the post from 7-21 about sent items  - but what about the recipients
seeing all the email addresses? What good is the DL then?

Response >> No.

Put the DL in the Bcc field.  Are these recipients Internet addresses or
Exchange addresses?  Your reference to "global DLs" suggests the latter.

Both. I created a DL with my Exchange address and my home address. Doesn't
seem to matter. I thought maybe it was just expanding my Exchange addresses,
but from home I can also see my Exchange address.

I hate putting something in BCC when the reason of a DL was to "hide" the
other email addresses.

If I go to our Exchange server and create a DL, it works perfect - doesn't
expand the addresses. If I create the DL on my machine using Outlook, it
expands all the addresses. (file, new, distribution list) I don't want
everybody to see my DL. Should I use a different procedure?

I would disagree that hiding other addresses is the purpose of a DL.

If I were wanting to do this, I'd create a DL and then another contact of
exactly the same name, specifying my own address as this contact's address.
I'd then send the message, specifying the contact in the To field and the DL
in the Bcc field.
