In Outllok, when I hit New Message and then the "To" button - it brings up a
window with a list of all the names in my Outllok Address Book. Some of the
names are shown 3, 4 and 5 times. Each one shows something different like the
email address, phone number, fax number... How can I program it to just show
the email address - as it does with some of the names shown?

The Outlook Address Book will show all valid electronic addresses for each
contact.  That is, it will show the e-mail addresses and the FAX numbers.
It will not show home or business phone numbers.  You can tell what it's
showing by sliding the horizontal scroll bar to the right.  For Outlook 2003
you can also change the size of the window to see it.

If you don't want to include the non-email addresses, then either don't
include them in the contact record, put them in a non-address field, or
alter them so Outlook believes them to be invalid.  One method for this
latter idea is to include an alphabetic string (like "FAX" or "F") in from
of a fax number.  This will break any integration of a fax program with
Outlook, but if you don't fax from within Outlook, you've lost nothing.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the response. I tried your siggestion of puttingan F in front of
the Fax numbers and it took care of the problem. I sincerely appreciate
youtaking the time to send a response.

Brian,

I want to add my thanks for this solution.
I've been battling this problem for about a year now and you have provided a
very simple but functional solution.

Thanks,

Ken Wigle
