I'm using Outlook 2000.  My contact folder is sorted by last name, first name
which is what I want.  However, when I'm creating a new email and access my
contacts using the 'To' button they are displayed in first name, last name
order -- I want to be able to search by last name.  How can I do this?

Hi, im using outlook 2002 and had the same problem. Maybe this can help you.
I chose tools-email accounts. I guess its the same as the mail icon in the
controlpanel and then e-mailaccounts.
Then "View or change existing directories or address books"
Mark the address book and click change.
Make sure that under show names by, File as (Smith, John) is selected. Then
click close and finish. RESTART outlook.
Then it should work.

Also make sure that its correct under tools-options-contacts options. It
should be last, first.

I hope that you can use this info in OL2000.
