Outlook 2002 XP - restoring linked data

I seem to have lost linked data in my Contacts.
When I recently reformatted the hard drive, I saved my
Outlook data .pst and later restored it. The basic data
was there: contacts, mail, dates, etc.
However, the data linked in the Details tab, such as
birthdays, and the linked Contacts (lower left field) are
no longer accessible.
When I click on an embedded birthday or anniversary date
in a contact, an error message appears: The path specified
for this file: Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Mailbox.pst is not valid. Therefore
I cannot access the Birthday date.
Likewise, when I click a (previously) linked Contacts an
error message appears: "Cannot perform requested
operation. The command selected is not valid for this
recipient."
Is there a way to restore functionality to the links?
Thanks for any help!

The article at http://www.exchangeadmin.com/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=22254 has a reconnect script that should get you started. If the contacts are in a folder other than a user's default Contacts folder, you will have to adapt the script to search in that specific folder. The function at http://www.slipstick.com/dev/code/getfolder.htm should help.

Something similar could be done for birthdays and anniversaries (but it's not on my to-do list). They should also reestablish themselves if you edit the date, then set it back to the original manually.
